Mirror of Erised update: Professor Birch has the mirror trapped in her office. If there are other mirrors roaming around still, they'll probably be found soon. If you want, Professor Birch says people can come see it during her normal office hours tomorrow.

Hi. How are you?

Has anyone seen the Mirror of Erised show up outside of Hogwarts? Or outside the castle itself but maybe elsewhere on the grounds? I'm trying to figure out the bounds of its mobility. It's been able to get into password protected areas, and I find that slightly unnerving.

Also, I'm not suggesting that you tackle the mirror if you see it, but if someone can test the possible theory that it's not vanishing but turning invisible (and then moving somehow?), I'd appreciate it.

Good job with the musical.

Lily, you can have your Christmas gift right now. If you want it.

Okay. I'm just going to write this now, so that I don't have to feel guilty for people winning or not winning Bingo on my account:

The weather has been pleasantly cloudy lately.

Hi. I know you're probably really busy with the match coming up but I kinda wanted to mention it anyway. Tomorrow morning is the peak of the Orionids meteor shower. Or very late tonight, same thing. I'm going to try to catch it.

Congratulations, people.

Hi. Nearly Headless Nick says he'll talk to Myrtle, so if you see Nick in the prefects bath tomorrow, that's why.

Hi. It might just be me, but the whole Myrtle thing is possibly the stupidest thing I've as of yet had to deal with as Head Boy. That's probably a good thing. But I don't know. Anyway. Thanks for saying that you didn't mind her.

Strategies for Dealing with Myrtle in the Prefects Bath
  • Pretend to not understand or speak English
  • Pretend to be even more distraught than Myrtle, so that maybe she'll show you sympathy instead of focusing on herself
  • Be polite and just hurry
  • Avoid the prefects bath
Other than that, I'm afraid I don't have any other advice for people. And I can only speak of the effectiveness of the final strategy.

It was a good weekend.

Also, I dropped Drama. I know just doing stage crew is a different sorta commitment, but I think as each week has passed, I've had less and less time to do stuff, in general. So I dropped that. But I'm still looking forward to watching the musical. The green skin sounds pretty cool, and the flying monkeys sound really cool. It'll be neat to see how it all comes together.

Good luck to everyone auditioning this week.

Hi. Nine words: I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

How many words does it take to turn it off? Because the voices on the map aren't being helpful enough or I'm just.

Spotted a cloud today that kinda vaguely looked like Australia, and I took a photograph of it.

A cloud that kinda vaguely looks like Australia. )

If anyone missed the Wizarding Culture information session but is still interested in the course, I have extra copies of the information that was passed out and extra copies of the fairy tales we're going to discuss next week. It should be interesting. You can stop by the Head Boy/Head Girl office for it.

The Perseid meteor shower peaks this week. On the night of the 12th to the early morning of the 13th, to be specific. There'll be very minimal moonlight this year during the peak, so it should be really, really excellent to watch. (Cam, does informing you about a meteor shower that occurs on your birthday count as a birthday gift?)

Anyway. That should be cool.

Private to Michaela
Hi. Does the Circle "Big" thing end when you leave school, or can I still ask you a question?

Professor Cresswell's lecture was interesting. Although it felt weird going to Hogwarts just for a couple hours. I don't think I'm ready to go back yet.

Here is a picture of some clouds. I kinda like it. Clouds. )

Guess even my journal can do photographs. Though I don't really see myself using this ability often.

Unless people really want to see pictures of clouds.

I am working at the Quidditch Museum, taking a first aid course, re-learning Apparition so I can take the exam in a few couple weeks, re-reading some Herbology textbooks (kinda regret dropping the subject, but not really), building a new anemometer that won't break at windspeeds over 75 km/hr, probably doing the Charms Club thing next week though it sorta sucks to still be underage, reviewing Potions, and if I'm lucky, hanging around boats.

That's what I'm doing this summer. So I might actually possibly forget to read my journal. If that's the case, see you all in September.

Hi. I'm probably not going to work on a boat. My parents say I have to have my Apparition licence and take a first aid course before I can leave on a boat. So the earliest I could leave would be after my birthday. And that's if I can pass the Ap Hopefully I'll So I don't know.

I suppose I'll probably just work at the Quidditch Museum.

I think the weirdest thing about going home is opening my bedroom door for the first time and seeing how clean my room is.

It's not going to stay that way for long.

Actually, it's already messy because I threw stuff on my bed.

I'll probably write in my journal still, but I hope everyone has a good summer. I'm planning on sleeping in a long time tomorrow just to make sure my summer is off to a good start.

There'll be significantly less Weasleys and Potters here next While there have kinda been an awful lot of parties and celebrations lately, it's nice to give Professor Weasley a proper send-off. Not that there's anything wrong with parties and celebrations. It's just that they get overwhelming after a while.

Three Favourite Events of the School Year
  1. Freezing the lake and going ice skating
  2. Professor Sinistra's lecture on Sirius
  3. When Lockhart went to Gryffindor

I'm probably forgetting other things.

Honour Society was interesting last night. I was kinda surprised to see the Minister there. I thought she'd have more secur I'd have thought her presence would have been advertised more, so it was nice to have her visit be so calm and low-key. I wish I had questions to ask her, but I couldn't think of anything interesting.

I've been hearing about the journals all this morning, so: no, I don't know if we'll have to turn in our journals or not. Whenever Professor Birch returns, I'm sure she'll have an answer for us.

Add me to the list of people who completely missed the Sunday Honour Society meeting. I was far too lost in my textbooks. I think when Professor Bloxam scheduled this extra meeting, she might have forgotten to consider (or chose not to consider) the procrastinators like me who spend Sunday nights scrambling to finish Monday's homework. And I would have gone, if I remembered. But I got too distracted.

Maybe I should work on my procrastination.

Thanks for providing extra Charms practice, whoever-was-in-the-Slytherin-common-room. I appreciate it.

Okay. I have to ask. Is this extra Quidditch match/rematch really that important?

I'm considering wearing a hard hat to Potions from now on. Or droppi I'm glad Professor Bobbin always knows what to do.

I'm not ready for the rain to stop. I've really enjoyed practising turning it into hail. (For Charms Club. Not for any sinister weather-controlling purposes, for the most part.)

Also, I'm kinda morbidly curious about what our teachers did learned at their meeting this afternoon. It worries me when they meet sorta secretly like that.
